Heart Light Stories

About Heart Light Stories

At Heart Light Stories, we believe every child carries a God-given light—something steady, strong, and beautifully their own. Sometimes that light shines boldly. Other times, life’s worries, big feelings, and self-doubt make it flicker. Our mission is to help
children discover, protect, and grow that inner light through stories, tools, and gentle
encouragement.

Inspired by Matthew 5:14—“You are the light of the world”—Heart Light Stories was created to give families resources that nurture courage, confidence, emotional growth,
and faith in everyday moments. Whether through a picture book, a guided journal, a
classroom activity, or a story shared at bedtime, we want children to feel seen, valued,
and capable of shining brightly in the world.

What We Believe

At Heart Light Stories, we believe

Our work is rooted in the belief that emotional tools and spiritual truths can grow side by
side, helping children find strength from within and hope from above.

Our Heart Light Promise

Every word we write, every story we share, and every resource we create holds this promise:

We will help children shine—not by changing who they are, but by helping them see who they have always been.

Because every child is the light of the world. And the world needs their shine.

About the Author

Hi, I’m Debbie Prince—a former teacher, parent coach, tutor, and grandmother who believes that every child carries a light inside them, even on the days when that light feels small or hard to find.

For more than twenty years, I taught children who struggled with anxiety, learning differences, behavioral challenges, and the everyday worries that make school feel overwhelming. I later earned a Master’s degree in Counseling and discovered that my greatest joy came from helping children understand themselves, believe in their abilities, and feel connected to the people who love them.

After moving to Florida with my husband of 35 years, I began tutoring homeschooled and neurodiverse children both in person and online. I also started coaching parents—because when children feel supported at home, they flourish everywhere else.

Today, I write stories that blend imagination with emotional growth, faith with gentleness, and practical tools with playful metaphors. In my books, you’ll find glowing gardens, heartstrings, invisible threads, calm-down boxes, brave inner voices, and reminders that even small seeds can grow into something beautiful. These stories are designed to help children understand their feelings, build confidence, and practice kindness—with a little sparkle of wonder along the way.

My goal is simple: to give children—and the adults who love them—tools that help them feel capable, connected, and confident.

Whether through picture books, early chapter books, emotional learning resources, journaling pages, or classroom activities, I hope my work inspires families to slow down, breathe deeply, and remember that growth happens one gentle step at a time.

Thank you for being here.

I’m honored to be part of your child’s journey as they learn to glow… and grow.

Introducing My Two New Books from Heart Light Stories

I’m thrilled to share that I have two powerful, heart-centered books releasing together, each designed to help children understand their feelings, find their voice, and discover the light within them.

Though the stories are different, both books explore what it really means for kids to grow up with courage, compassion, and emotional strength. They were written to give children tools, language, and hope—especially during moments when life feels confusing, heavy, or overwhelming.

Flip the Script

A story about courage, calm thinking, and learning to talk back to worry.

Flip the Script teaches children how to shift unhelpful thoughts into empowering ones.Through simple, relatable examples, kids learn how to turn “I can’t do this” into “I’ll try,” helping them build confidence, emotional awareness, and resilience in everyday moments.

Nothing’s Wrong (Except Maybe Everything)

A heartfelt, diary-style story about siblings, stress, and the quiet kid who carries more than she lets on.

Told through Maya’s honest and often funny journal entries, this book explores what it feels like to be the “responsible one” in a busy, neurodiverse family. It gives voice to kids who feel overlooked, overwhelmed, or unsure where they fit—and reminds them their feelings truly matter.

Why These Two Books Matter Together

Released side by side, these stories highlight two important truths:

Together, these books spark meaningful conversations at home and in classrooms about emotions, empathy, and growing up with courage
